Leaving behind files after uninstall

I have a problem when an I run a major upgrade then uninstall the upgrade it leaves behind 3 files. When I look in the registry the files in question have 2 copies.

The major upgrade removes all the files from the folder first, and all the registry entries are removed, then when the install runs the registry now has 2 copies. I can't find the files being installed twice anywhere in the installer.

Does anyone have any ideas how to fix this?

I am using InstallShield 2008.

Thanks in advance

Anything left behind after an uninstall may be deliberately marked to not be uninstalled.

I don't understand what you mean when you say "when I look in the registry, the files in question have 2 copies." Files and registry data are two entirely separate things...

Figured out the problem. In the previous install the files that were being left behind were not set as key files, but with my new install they were key files. Clearing the key files for the files left behind seemed to fix the problem.
