what OS, if you are win7 use control panel, backup and do "create a system image" to a removable drive. swap HDD's and then boot with your system dvd, repair your computer, restore your computer using a system image.

you need to do a windows easy transfer to go from xp to 7, none of your software will come over though, only files and settings
