Can any body help me in suppressing the updates.

My application name is Tibco Business Studio 3.0.

I have update option in my shortuct. I need to suppress this update. The following are the two options which are present in my application which are related to update.

If you want them removed from the application's menu then I figure the best place to get that information is from the vendor. I would strongly suspect, however, that the menu is NOT user-configurable. Your best option, if you want to prevent updates, is to somehow blacklist the target host address i.e. the site address which those menu options connect to. You could do that using your site's firewall or, more simply, editing the local HOSTS file so that the address points to the local loopback address.

Thank u for ur reply.

I am packaging this application. According to our standards update should not be there in the package.

I want to disable this update.

That's all well and good but your standards mean nothing if there's no way to remove menu items. Ask the vendor if they can be removed. If they can't - and, as I already said, I very much doubt that they can - your only recourse is to prevent users reaching the update site.

EDIT:
Sometimes updates are controlled by a separate EXE: perhaps you could find out if that's the case and, if so, remove the corresponding EXE from the package.

Here in my application it is pointing to one jar file.

I removed the jar file then shorcut is not working.

I am not able to see the information of jar file. Could u just tell me how to decompress the jar file.

- It is my understanding that JARs are uncompressed "on the fly" by the Java Virtual Machine.
- What would be the point of decompressing them? If you're under the impression that you can alter the menus from there, I wish you the best of luck. If you *do* succeed in that endeavour, I imagine that any product support you have would immediately cease.

First, don't you mean an option in the app, not the shortcut? Secondly, pay attention to Ian's post quoted below. As an extra clue, i'm pretty sure that in jre's the update executables are named jupd* and jsched* something. I posted here (I think) about getting rid of those in a post-install CA.

Rating comments in this legacy AppDeploy message board thread won't reorder them,
so that the conversation will remain readable.
