I am wrapping applications for a company and I know how to make the applications install silently but I also need to know how to add in product keys or registration keys and user names to the CMD line so it will install without promting.  The CMD line I am working with for this package is for an MSI for WinZip:

c:\temp>msiexec.exe /i winzip-32.msi /qn /norestart /lv* c:\temp\log.txt

I will also be working exe. packages; so if you have any tips for that as well that would be great.

Have a look through the dialogs in the MSI. If there's one that has a field where you can enter the product key, you should be able to identify that field in the Control table in the MSI, and find the property that is linked to it. Since this is usually a public property you can then add it to your commandline.

  • Thanks Pjgeutjens. I ended up creating an MST and being able to look in at the table under properties and enter in the registry information.

This depends on the software you are making package of. Some you can put registration on in the msi-properties, and others you might need to wrap (snapshot)

  • Thanks Polarman. I ended up creating an MST and being able to look in at the table under properties and enter in the registry information. Then I was able to add the MST to the wrapper in a TRANSFORMS file.
