How can I upgrade the agent on the K1000 server?

On my k1000 there is an update available for the agent bundle (version 5.5.30276). Current agent version for OS X/Windows is 5.5.30275.

I set it to edit mode and click on the "install new agent bundle" and a window pops up telling me it's installing the bundle and will close when complete. It closes, and still, new agent bundle available, and the installed versions haven't changed.

I've restarted the KACE appliance and it still seems to silently fail. Searching for similar issues leads to articles on managing updates on clients from the server, when I'm having the problem on the server itself.

Is there a way to find out why it won't automatically update anymore?

If the workaround is to install the bundle manually, where do I get the upgraded bundle?

The update is working, this particulare afgent update doesnt increment the agent version.

  • Ah, so apparently the bundle isn't incrementing the version, so the K1000 will continue to balk at it and the knowledge base is saying to ignore this... - bsilver 10 years ago

I believe that agent update only applies to your workstations. It's not a system update for the K1000.

The K1000 will continue to prompt you every 2 weeks.  Annoying but this can safely be ignored as stated here:

http://www.kace.com/support/resources/kb/solutiondetail?sol=SOL120451

But basically it says:

Only the Agent bundle has the version number 5.5.30276, the actual agent is still 5.5.30275 since no code changes were made to the actual agent.

If it’s already been installed it’s not going to deploy the same version again and Auto Updates is not going to show a new version.

Both the Home Summary page and the Auto Update from KACE will still report a new bundle is available 5.5.30276 after applying the bundle kbin and can be safely ignored.

So... Given that in this scenario, [Agent Bundle ver.#] != [Agent ver.#], is there any way to verify whether clients are getting the updated agent?

I'm new to KACE (just setup and installed last week) and was hoping to use this first Agent update to confirm our agent updates were getting pushed out correctly...

Regards.
