Custom Inventory Rule and Windows Version

I've noticed that when a custom inventory rule is used for software eg: FileVersionLessThan(C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe, 7) and the OS is selected eg: Windows XP Service Pack 3, the list of machines that get listed after running inventory includes machines that don't meet the OS criteria.

Is this expected behaviour? I can obviously write the extra part for the rule to check for Windows version, but just seemed odd that it appears to ignore the OS selection.

the OS selection is only deployment restrictions as far as I know :)
