Browser Certificates

Hello,
I have an .msi and i created a .mst and am struck how to insert the browser certificates to it. ours is a lock down environment so any help appreciated.

You need to use CertMgr from a Custom Action.

thanks for the help VBScab, Can you help me in detail as am new to packaging. Do I need to include Certmgr as a part of the package? Please suggest me.

I'm afraid not. This really isn't the place for a tutorial: it'd just take too long.

Grab yourself a copy of Phil Wilson's ouevre, The Definitive Guide to Windows Installer. I believe it's available as a download these days. Have a look at Dawnstar's site, too. Although at Wise Package Studio users, there's some generic stuff there, too.

If you had to, you can also insert a certficate by just capturing their registry entries.

If you were to capture a Trusted Publisher certificate there would be sub keys under the registry key below with a long hex 'Blob' value

e.g. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SystemCertificates\TrustedPublisher\Certificates
