Hi,

There's entry for uninstallstring which points to C:\Program Files\Bea Systems\tuxedo\uninstaller\uninstall.exe.

I can map to this directory and do the uninstall, howerver I'm having issue with the switches.

Options:

- Ask the vendor. We all know how far you'll get with that.
- Add a nonsense switch as an argument e.g. my favourite, "/SomebodyHelpMePlease!" Hopefully, the developer will have been kind and added error-trapping to show you the acceptable switches. Scale of likelihood of success, 1 to 10? 2
- Load the EXE into a text editor (a proper one, not NotePad) and search for likely candidates.

Hi,

Removing Tuxedo can be quite easy. Tuxedo installation process is as follows:

1. Copies files in C:\TUXEDO (for instance)
2. Create an environment variable in Path C:\Tuxedo\bin and one as TUXDIR = C:\TUXEDO.
3. Create shortcuts if required.

The functioning is that the wtux32.dll is a non registerable dll file and is referred to by the applications on the basis of the environment variable.

Uninstall Procedure
------
If nothing works, then do the following:

1. Remove all the files.
2. Remove the environment variables (important step)
3. Remove shortcuts
4. Delete the HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\<Tuxedo> key so that the installation is not visible in Add/Remove Programs.

That is all what is inside the Tuxedo client. I have repackaged the 6.3.1 as well as the 9.1.0 and its the same story.

For any further clarification, please feel free to revert back.

Tushar

Hi Tushar,

Thanks for the help, I have managed to remove Tuxedo 8.1. I've created script to uninstall 8.1 and command line swith is Uinstall.exe -i console which works fine. It left the home directory though even with manual install. I'm trying to install Tuxedo 9.1 Via SMS I've got the installer.preperties file conifgured properly however I want the install to go new directory.

Can you please let me know how did you install Tuxedo 9.1 ?

Thanks

Hi,

To install Tuxedo 9.1, i created an MSI from scratch, taking the files and placing them on C:\Tuxedo\tuxedo9.1\bin. Then i created two environment variables called TUXDIR pointing to C:\TUXEDO\tuxedo9.1\ and Path appended to have the entry for C:\TUXEDO\tuxedo9.1\bin.

Tuxedo client is quite simple for that matter. You can also use the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Environment registry key to create system level environment variables if your tool creates a problem creating them.

If you require any further help packaging the application, please do let me know. To create an MSI for this is very easy and you will be better off with that in terms of managebility.

Tushar

  • Hi Tushar, I need some help on this. We are getting Windows Installer error when used msiexec. "This installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid windows installer package."

Can you tell me how to install Tuxedo via batch script using msiexec command?

Hi Tusher,

When you create the MST did you specify to create New BEA Home or Use Existing BEA Home ?

when I uninstalledTuxedo 8.1 via the script or manual Uninstall, it does leave some folders on the diectory C:\Program Files\Bea Systems\Tuxedo.

the folder that are left there are: C:\Program Files\ Bea System\Jre130; C:\Program Files\ Bea System\logs; C:\Program Files\ Bea System\Tuxedo.

My only concern if I changed the directory to create new home I have to change the environment variable and envfiles.

Any Advise on this ??

thanks
