This would have to be accomplished using 3rd party tools.

Unfortunately at this time there is not prompting option.

There may be a workaround if I understand the question. We have all users integrated with our Active Directory (LDAP) database through a daily import. We assign users to equipment as part of the asset record. We can report on a user's assigned equipment and all fields desired. It sounds like you'd like (me too) an automated pop-up with the ability to ask the user their name. As a non-admin they wouldn't be allowed to search or enter criteria so it has to be done by an admin. If I set up a template report then it could be copied, customized for a user and run. Could be run anytime again in the future by that person perhaps. Not completely automated but gets there easily with a one-time admin customization.

Not really the scenario we in. I want to be able to dynamically enter a filter into a report at runtime.




Is there any way of accessing the database tables directly? I could easily write something to get the info.

You can use ANYTHING that'll accept an ODBC connection.

It just depends on what your trying to do, and what tools your comfortable with.
