Asset Fields Auto Update

We have some custom Assets that have various fields on them, i.e. city and state. This exact same information is contained on the user record which is imported from AD. Each time we create a new asset we would like to have the city and state automatically populated from the 'user' that is selected so this data does not have to be enter each time a new asset is created.

As the very least it would be nice if the 'User' field type on a asset had a direct link to the users record so the person viewing this asset could get the city and state information.

Anybody have any ideas how I can accomplished this, without manually duplicating the data each time a new Asset is created?

You can accomplish this with custom help desk ticket rules. You'd need to set any blank asset fields for city and state to the matching user field based on the LDAP user import.
Rating comments in this legacy AppDeploy message board thread won't reorder them,
so that the conversation will remain readable.
