Are Wise Package Studio's Days Numbered?

I have heard upon the grapevine that the days of Wise are numbered...There would be no new version, upgrades or service packs and that within the next 2 or 3 years it would be outdated...Adminstudio is the next in line to be king...

Is that true?

According to our rep, if we sign some sort of disclosure, we can see the Wise 'road map'. We offered to do so but hadn't heard back. Last communications a few months ago stating there would be some sort of patch/update being worked on and would be finished '4th Quarter, 2011' but we'll see how that goes.

Well, virtualization is where it's all headed...Installshield is all up that road...Packaging will still be a requirement...From what I see, Symantec is really far behind in the virtualization aspect of it...This is what I have been hearing from other packagers as well, especially those who are deep into following the latest trends in packaging technology...

Virtualization is where we're headed, but there's still quite a few applications that still won't fit in this model - items that uses drivers, COM objects, etc, and some that shouldn't with the current technolgies - IE plugins, etc. Our team is waiting for the APP-V infrastructure to be put in place before we start mainstream virtualizing the majority of our applications.
Rating comments in this legacy AppDeploy message board thread won't reorder them,
