K1000 AMP connection problems

I’m a complete newbie …

We have problems with amp connection in our environment on a bunch of computers and it is not possible to check every computer.

·         AMP connection is green but the inventory doesn’t work at all (force update also doesn’t work)

·         Restart of AMP-Agent works fine, but after a few minutes the agent status went from green to red again

We’ve checked firewall (looks fine), telnet to port 52230 (ok), amp.conf (ok) and amp.log (ok).

Any idea? Bug?

Tia!

Amp.log …from my point of view it looks fine ….

  • Are you using replication shares? Which k1 server version do you have? We've been seeing a similar error since we updated to v5.5 in which a handful of computers will report an active AMP connection but the "last inventory" is much longer than our check-in interval and forcing an update does not rectify the problem. - JasonEgg 10 years ago
  • Can you check the output of KInventory.exe on one of the impacted systems to see if it is getting the inventory locally? Have you tried running "runkbot 4 0" (on demand inventory update) manually on one of the systems?

We rarely get a situation like this, but it usually requires a full uninstall and reinstall of the agent. - grayematter 10 years ago

Are these also stuck with the force inventory never returning?  I get this quite often and this is my newly canned response:

I have seen this quite often after a new agent is available.  Some machines get messed up in the upgrade and fail to check in perhaps.  Then another machine picks up the IP causing the green light to show up on the old machine that fails the upgrade.

Long story short, I simply ping the machine by name to get the new IP and send the machine an uninstall agent provisioning, then push the install again.  This works most of the time, other times I have to delete the inventory files on the machine to get a cleaner install.

do you have the agents up to date with the server.  This was a problem for us on machines with the 5.3 clients and were are at 5.5 on server
