Office 2013 packaging

How to package office 2013.

1) Office 2013 comes with it's own transform creator, simply run setup.exe /admin to launch the wizard. The wizard remains the same as the Office 2010 wizard.

2) Once you are done your customization, save the transform file (mst) to the updates folder inside of the Microsoft Office 2013 folder. Any file inside of the updates folder gets automatically applied just like in Office 2010

3) Zip the files, making sure that the setup.exe is at the root of the zip file.

4) Upload the file to the inventory record for the software in Kace to Office 2013 (version 15.x)

5) Setup the distribution as the image attached looks like

  • What does the "Don't prepend msiexec.exe" do? - bwilkerson 10 years ago
  • By default kace will run the msiexec.exe and pass the setup parameters, which we don't want for a standalone exe setup - ms01ak 10 years ago
  • Hi,

I created the msp file and when I run "setup.exe /adminfile customofficemsp" in command prompt, it works fine.
But when I push it through KACE, with configure manually and the same command, it does not works.
Can you tell me why is that happening and what I may be doing wrong ? - anshjain 10 years ago
    • You need to add to customofficemsp to the updates folder (it's inside the office folder) and it will automatically be applied to the installer. You only then need to run setup.exe - ms01ak 10 years ago
