Command Line
Activating SPSS via a command line:

If you would also like to activate the SPSS Text Analysis 2.x software from the command line, use the following command.

“<Program Files>\SPSS Text Analysis for Surveys\spssactivator.exe” <Licence Code>

Note*: although the “spssactivator.exe” is not distributed with the “SPSS Text Analysis 2.x” software, you can find it within the “SPSS v14” software
Simply copy the file down to the above directory and the command will work.

Note**: You will also need to have a current connection to the internet for the activation to work successfully. The site require for activation is:
"chilm01.spss.com”

Note

There is an article on the SPSS Support site (Resolution number 55630) thats says Users "will need at least Read, Write, and Execute permission for the MySQL for version 1.5 or the MSDE for version 2.0 and STAfS directories." I run in a locked down environment, so that didn't make me happy! So far I have confirmed that just to run the program, users must be able to write to file.lock and jvm.args - I'm sure there will be more!

There does not appear to be any documented information for a silent install for this application and tech support did not know of any way to install it silently. But I was able to get the command line parameters from their Marketing department of all places.

Copy all contents of the CD to your network install location and create a batch file with the proper command lines specified below.

You can save space by deleting some of the non essential files such as the different languages and the setup.exe at the root etc.
