Here's a classic case of a vendor taking something which works and breaking it.
The installer for Oracle Client 12c cannot be executed on a machine with "unknown" characters in its name. You know...unknown characters like underscore ( _ ). It fails after either the very first screen if you choose "Instant Client" or after the 'Select product Language' screen if you choose any other option. And no, adding the '-ignoreSysPrereqs' argument doesn't bypass it.
I'm speechless.
