Had a bit of a problem getting this one deployed in a locked-down user environment. We have a network license, so you must first install the server side files to a network share. You are then supposed to run the setup.exe from the wkstn directory on the server. You are supposed to run this on every client machine, there is no silent/unattended setup support, the vendor really wants you to run it from the server on each machine.
First, .NET 2.0, XP SP2, and Windows installer 3.0 are required dependencies.
After the machine is configured with these components, you can perform a setup capture on a client machine running ..\wkstn\setup.exe. I chose to reboot after the install, and before ProSeries is launched (deselected the "Launch ProSeries" checkbox)
After reboot, I started Proseries, allowed it to download updates, and it started up, unlicensed, which is odd, because I did run it from the Network workstation location.
I completed the package cleanup, applied rights to all folders created:
[ProgramFilesFolder]ProPDF
[CommonAppDataFolder]Intuit
[CommonFilesFolder]Intuit
[ProgramFilesFolder]ProWin07
[CommonFilesFolder]AnswerWorks 4.0
I then added a nested MSI custom action to install the entitlement client that gets installed to [ProgramFilesFolder]ProWin07\encl\EntlClnt.msi
It took a lot of trial and error, but the application is now working as intended.
