To Run the msi package of language Package lonely (without setup.exe), you must edit this property table and add following:

(This is for german language)

CLIENTLANGUAGE=DE
CLIENTLANGUAGENAME=Deutsch
CLIENTLANGUAGE_LCASE=de
ENABLELOGFILE=1
Setup Information:

Command Line
Silent network install, English version, all components except Web Updates:

"\\%installdirectory%\setup.exe" ADDLOCAL=ALL CLIENTLANGUAGE=EN INSTALL.LP.EN.SELECTED="1" REBOOT=ReallySuppress PIDKEY=%your key% INSTALLDIR="C:\Program Files\Business Objects" DISABLEWEBUPDATE=1 /qn

Note
When I tried to install other languages (<>English) I received the error code: e06d7363.

To resolve:
Set property ' INSTALL.LP.DE.SELECTED="1" '

DE = German, FR = French and so forth...

Setup Type: unspecified
Deployment Method Used: unspecified

Note
To Run the msi package of language Package lonely (without setup.exe), you must edit this property table and add following Propertys. (example for German)

INSTALL.LP.DE.SELECTED=1
PIDKEY=<your Serial>
CLIENTLANGUAGE=DE
ADDLOCAL=ALL
Setup Information:
Setup Type: unspecified
Deployment Method Used: unspecified
Deployment Difficulty: unspecified
Platform(s): Windows
3
Note
PIDKEY=%LICENSE_KEY% (with - seperators)
DISABLEWEBUPDATE=1 (Disables webupdate during install)

I received the following error, installing msi/mst with /qb switch.

Error 1904. Module...\EnterpriseFramework.dll failed to register.

The above is because very few features are actually installed in a silent installation. ADDLOCAL=ALL fix the error but will install all features. A default/standard installation does not install ALL features.

ADDLOCAL=CrystalReportsRoot,AlwaysInstall,CrystalReports,crw,Text,HiddenRoot,BeforeInstall,NeverInstall,JRE,SCRUserData,Universe,DataAccess,Access,SOFA,MyCube,OLE_DB_Data,XML,SFORCE,JavaData,JDBC,DB2,HPNeoview,Oracle,Excel,Export,HTML,PDF,RichTextFormat,WordforWindows,ODBC,Record,ReportDefinition,CharacterSeparated,XMLExport,Application,DiskFile,LotusNotesMail,LotusNotes,ExchangeFolders,MicrosoftMail,PGEditor,LanguagePackCostingFeature

The above will install all features as if performing a default install with the UI sequence

Note
The registration wizard that fires up on startup is activated based on the registry key:
HKCU\Software\Business\Objects\Suite 12.0\Crystal Reports\Counter (DWORD value)
If the Counter value is absent it gets created & set to 1. On the next startup no registration wizard appears.
NB The gotcha is that the presence of the Crystal Reports key above this, or rather the absence of this key is what triggers the initial copy of files into the user's profile (APPDATA), so if you add the counter key to your package, you will presumably also need to ensure these files get created.

The easiest way I've found to create a customized and SILENT installation of Crystal Reports 2008 without having to memorize and specify all the different parameters is to create a response file (.INI) and specify that response file to the SETUP.EXE.

To create a response file, run the following from a command line:

SETUP.EXE -w "file-path"

where file-path is the complete path and name of the INI file you want to create.

This will start the installation and display the dialog screens to you. Enter all the selections (including the PID) for the type of installation you want. When you get to the point where the installation is starting to copy files to the hard disk, CANCEL the installation. You've now created the response file without actually installing the software.

To install Crystal Reports 2008 in a silent mode, type the following from a command line/prompt:

SETUP.EXE -r "file-path"

where file-path specifies the response file you created. This response file may be used on all subsequent installations. You may also create several different response files to accomodate the needs of your environment/users.

If you want a truly SILENT installation, you will need to make a minor change to the response file you've created. In the response file will be a section called [OTHER]. In that section, change the QUIET=/qa parameter to QUIET=/qn.

Note

When adding the registry entry that disables the registration wizard, it does not disable the file copy routine that copies files to the user's APPDATA folder.

Note
I had problems passing through the PIDKEY property in the TRANSFORM for Silent installations.

Ended up changing PIDKEY to SAVEDPIDKEY which then allowed me to pass through the Serial Number.
Also note I had to add ADDLOCAL=ALL to the table otherwise the installation would fail.
