Hi all,

I'm just wondering what the tool of choice is that you'd use to edit a XML file during an installation ? As an example, lets say that it's an existing file on a PC that you'd want to change some values of.

Cheers, Mike

Mike, are you a WPS user? If so, it has some XML handling when you double-click the file in 'Installation Expert' view.

If not, there's a rather nice VBScript class knocking about. I used it as a base for my own version (I found some functionality which I needed was missing), or there's the ChilKat (sp?) ActiveX object which, IIRC, is free. Having used one of their products in the past, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend that.

there some really nice xml handling code in WiX.

you would need export the IDT from a WiX msi and import into Wise. Then add the CA's and should be good to go.

It has ability to edit, delete, add and supports full xpath lookup syntax such as

if not I wrote an xml class not sure if its the one Ian mentioned. I did it about 4-5 years ago could probably do with some more error trapping but it does support a wealth of XML editing etc.
