Windows 7 Patches

I have had a few of my windows 7 machines fail with their patches, in my XP machines i can still manually install these patches by visiting their Temp folder and running the .exe, Now with Windows 7 it seems that the patches are now .cab files. so how do i manually install those patches now??

WinZip can extract CAB files: http://kb.winzip.com/kb/entry/254
WinRAR can extract CAB files: http://www.win-rar.com/index.php?id=24&kb=1&kb_article_id=131
7Zip can extract CAB files: http://www.7zip.com/type/7/CAB
