If the file is installed as a shared component.... (attribute 8)
(From MSI.chm)
If this bit is set, the installer increments the reference count in the shared DLL registry of the component's key file. If this bit is not set, the installer increments the reference count only if the reference count already exists.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\SharedDLLs
(Dont forget to look in x86 and x64 locations)
I would recommend that you don't futz with the values there, however, since you clearly have, at best, a sketchy idea of what you're doing. - anonymous_9363 10 years ago
