What music format uses the least disk space?

I have an android tablet that I am using to store music and photos. I have a 32g sd card in my tablet and have used the entire 32g , I used the WAV format for my music download can I conserve space by using another format like MP3?

MP3 is the best format for what you require, however it depends on the quality of the music you would want. If you change the MP3 format to 128kbps then they will take up less space, but not sound as good. Whack it up to 320kbps and the quality would be better but take up quite a bit more space. Set it to 160kbps as its a good medium and no-one can really hear the difference, especially through headphones or tablet speakers.

You could use a lossless compression format like Apple Lossless (ALAC) or a high-bitrate mp3, high quality AAC, and so forth. Suggestion: keep your original/lossless files on permanent storage, then make a "portable" copy of whatever you want on your tablet. You could easily get a lot more out of 32GB with 256kbps mp3 files.
