In 97 I applied for desktop support with a major phone company and didn't get an interview. A couple months later they needed a guy that knew Systems Management Server. I applied and got an interview but my only relevant skill sets were Windows and MS SQL. Since I was the best applicant they had I basically got this job out of luck. As part of my duties I had to learn how to package and now application packaging still remains to be my most in demand skill.

We installed everything by hand. Not very professional for an organisation of 2200 computers. Sinds we have got AD- GPO we introduced a new team called SC&D. Management asked me to be a part of the team (team consists of 2 man totaly). The other guy does everything but packaging. So i´am the only packager for 2200 computers and about 350 local apps. (We don´t know how many exactly)
