What is the correct way to update agents from Kace K1000?

We just upgraded our K1000 from 6.0 to 6.4. Our agents are currently still on 6.0.179 and we would like to upgrade them all to 6.4.522. As of right now, the 6.0.179 is the version the K1000 is set to push out, but the option to apply the 6.4.522 is available.

Would the correct way to update all our machines with the new agent be, to have a schedule to uninstall all the agents. Then apply the 6.4.522 agent on the K1000. Then run a schedule that is set to install the new agent on all the machines?

Or can I just apply the 6.4.522 to the K1000, so when the next time the machines check in, they will automatically receive the new agent?

Any help would be much appreciated.

  • You also want to check if you can go from agents 6.0x to 6.4x in the 6.4 release notes. they may not be upgradeable directly.

You may have to move them first to a version that can go to 6.4 and then do 6.4 agents. two step process - nshah 7 years ago

Configure the upgrade from the Agent Updates page on the K1000. K100 will automatically uninstall old agent and install new one.
