VMWARE Transforms error
Hi, I am an Application Packager and I use VMWARE Workstation 5.5.3 to do my packaging on.
They are all WinXP SP2 images
I am having trouble installing transforms on the virtual machines
I have checked and rechecked my commandline :
msiexec.exe TRANSFORMS="ISISDraw_2.5SP2_ENG_2.1.0.mst" /i "ISIS Draw 2.5SP2.msi"
I have put the full paths to the files in, I have copied to the root of the c drive
but everytime I get the "Error applying transforms" message
I have tried other transformed packages and they all fail with the same message, however if I copy the files to my main machine (Not VMWARE) then the transform works????
Please Help!!!!
Thanks in Advance

Another possible problem is that your VMware virtual machine is running an older version of Windows Installer than your main machine and your transforms are specifying a minimum version of Windows Installer that is higher than the virtual machine actually supports.
Try msiexec / ? on both your virtual machine and your main machine and look at the top line of the output to see which version of Windows Installer you are running on each.
If there is a discrepancy, you could either update Windows Installer on the VM (especially if this makes the VM more representative of the target estate) or you could examine the Summary Information field in your transform(s) to see what minimum version of Windows Installer you are specifying and, if necesseary, alter it there
If you are using ORCA you can open your base MSI, then click on Transform .. Apply Transform and navigate to your transform file and then click on View Summary Information and then check out the Schema field.
