I need to test some UTP cable. Can someone recommend a quality tester for routine use? Something less than $100.

I'd probably go with something like this: http://www.amazon.com/Klein-Tools-VDV501-809-Scout-Tester/dp/B004CIBQ4K/ref=sr_1_3?s=hi&ie=UTF8&qid=1352148931&sr=1-3&keywords=cat5+tester

I actually have this one, but it's out of your price range: http://www.amazon.com/LANROVERPRO-CAT5-TESTER-CAT-TESTER-REM/dp/B000J15MH6/ref=sr_1_1?s=hi&ie=UTF8&qid=1352148970&sr=1-1&keywords=lanrover

Depends if you want to cut and re-crimp it. If you're just going to test whether they work or not, get your hands on an extender and plug a known good cable into one end and connect the other to a laptop / PC with your questionable cable.
