User Issues after migrating to Windows 2008 R2 from Windows 2003

After migrating from 2003 to 2008 R2 using the Windows migration tools, we noticed that the majority of our domain users hang when trying to open the attachment window and/or upload when using IE for webmail.  Also, the Adobe hangs when trying to open and/or save a PDF document.   We migrate the computers and profiles.  The server is a new physical machine with a different name and domain.   Any thoughts??

    • from the little I found on the web, people have complained about this for about 2.5 years but no help from MS, some downgraded to 2008 r1 or upgraded to 2012 to solve the problem.
Is there any thing in the secutiry logs when this happens. some said they see 4624 and 4672 events when the hangs happen - SMal.tmcc 10 years ago

You say that you are migrating to a new domain?  Have you used the USMT parameters to switch the profile from the old domain to the new domain?  The same issue can occur when moving from a local account to a domain account.

Here is some more info our USMT parameters:

  • This is correct as we are consolidating all our 2003 domains to one forest under 2008 R2. Everything is fine except those two issues. I use the MS migration tool to migrate both computers and the profiles on those computers. Actually we have used the USMT, which could be problem. - rmartes 10 years ago
