USB 3G Modem - Switch Mode?

Guys,

Bit of a odd one that I'm after some advice on.

Client wants to use Orange BusinessEverywhere suite with a USB 3G modem. They have provided me a customised version of the suite, with corporate branding and some settings disabled, which I can deploy fine with a silent switch.

They have also provided me some updated drivers to use with the modem - which I've packaged up and deploy fine.

The issue is that when you first plug in the modem it detects as a USB storage device and autoruns the setup contained on it, which installs an older version of the suite (without the branding etc) and runs a custom MFC application that 'switches' the mode of the USB device (amongst other things, including launching some other installers) from storage to modem which is then detected and installed.

Obviously with the custom Suite and drivers that I already have, all I really want to do is to be able to switch the USB mode so that it runs as a modem without doing any of the other twiddley bits.

If this was under Linux, then there is a util called USB Mode Switch that does this for you.

What I suppose I'm asking is - How can I switch the mode under Windows without running the custom apps, which do other stuff that I don't need, to get the modem installed.

I suspect I'm going to have to get the client to go back to the vendor, but thought I'd check here first [:D]

Thanks,

Dunnpy
