Unable to deploy Windows 7 Image - KACE2000

We have successfully captured a Windows 7 image. However, when deploying that image onto an identical PC, we get the error message "Windows could not complete the installation. To install Windows on this computer, restart the installation."

Does the image have the 100mb system partition? If so the following link might be relevant for your situation.
http://www.kace.com/support/resources/kb/article/Deploy-a-Windows-7-Image-Containing-the-100-MB-System-Partition?action=artikel&cat=54&id=994&artlang=en
It talks about creating 2 preinstallation and one postinstallation task that are used in conjunction with a Windows 7 Image that has the 100mb system partition. Basically it uses Diskpart to create the two partitions ready for the image to be deployed into and also reassigns the drive letters appropriately. We had similar problems with Windows 7 Imageas and applying the pre & postinstallation task from the link above worked in our situation.

  • I think marccahill is right. What is the partition layout of your source/target machines? - dchristian 12 years ago
  • Typically the partition error will give you error messages in the log, like not enough room, or something similar. Have you checked your logs available on \\\petemp\id#.log?
    This could help.
Also where is the message occurring? in KBE or after a reboot? - cserrins 12 years ago
