K2000 Unable to capture WIM or K-image

Hi all,

I have been working with Dell Tech support on this but thought I would reach out for more input. I have a K2000 appliance with the latest update 3.7.120251. I was able to capture an image, specifically Windows 10 image, back in March of this year and was using the same update at that time.I have plenty of hard disk space on the K2000 and on my WIM image. Space is not an issue. I use Oracle VirtualBox and has always worked for me in the past with images. I tried using a physical machine to capture an image and no luck as well. The only thing that has changed as far as my network was upgrading my Windows Server from 2008 r2 to 2012 r2. I have provided a copy of the capture log below.

The error log I receive when capturing image states the following: 2016-05-24 13:54:13-0400 [info] (10.92.0.232:49674) Received connection.
2016-05-24 13:54:13-0400 [info] (10.92.0.232:49674) Capturing image '192'
2016-05-24 13:55:38-0400 [client] Completed successfully
2016-05-24 13:55:38-0400 [error] Connection closed by remote while reading 1 bytes from network.
2016-05-24 13:55:38-0400 [info] (10.92.0.232:49674) Client disconnected.

  • So I ran an integrity test this morning with my k2000 and it failed to capture an image. So I know my network is not at fault. This time I used a Dell Optiplex 960 as my reference machine instead of oracle virtualbox for capturing. I currently have a support ticket open with Kace. - crhoward 7 years ago
  • We JUST started using our K2000 deployment...and had the exact same issue. Working with support we finally discovered DB corruption. Once that was fixed we were able to upload images again. - DMel 7 years ago

Connection closed by remote while reading 1 bytes from network.

sounds like it starts to capture and chokes.

maybe there is traffic shaping on the vswitch?

network driver in KBE for whatever vnic the oracle virtualbox is emulating could be at fault.

you could change the .vmx to a diff vnic [in vmware] im sure you could edit whatever config file or use the UI for oracle virtualbox and change the vnic the oracle virtual box VM is using and retry.

maybe add the guest addition drivers to kbe ?

I'm sure a streaming capture would work, https://support.software.dell.com/k2000-systems-deployment-appliance/kb/125876

you could then use the Image Templates to deploy the image.

might call support if you need more assistance with the templates.
