Unable to capture "SAP GUI 7.10" pluse "two Patches" via Wise
Hi Friends,
I have one problem with wise capture.
I'm unable to capture the SAP GUI 7.10 with its two patches.
The case is, when ever I’m launch my setupALL.exe after the first clean capture of wise.......the process setupALL.exe and newsetup.exe were started but the dialog box is disappear and I can’t able to run my exe.
I was installed my two prerequisites Office XP and .net 2.0 .
I’m wanted to capture there component:
- SAP GUI Suite
- BW add-on
- Business Explorer
After this I have to install my two patches also
- gui710_7-10002995.exe
- bi710sp05_500-10004472.exe
Note: I can only use the wise packaging studio, for information I was tried to capture with InstallShiled and I got the success but I can only use the wise tool.
Is there any process or thread of wise or system conflict with the SAP GUI 7.10 (SetupALL.exe).

We deliver on our commitments so you can deliver on yours.
whilst delivering on your commitments it may be worth noting not to capture MSI's.
There is a packaging tool built into SAP which includes the addition of patches etc. You may be best off following the vendors advice documented in their help files on how to silently install their product.

Delete repacklog.log file from C:\windows[WindowsFolder] from your capturing machine you will be able to capture

hi dear,
I'm using Wise 5.6.
I want to install my my main exe and both patch in one command line.
Is it possible ?
If yes, so i can take a capture of my source.
Here i'm using commad is not working with patches...i mean that command is not installing my patches.

i was used
"path of setupALL.exe" /patch "First patch path";"Second Patch path"
after dat this install only setupAll.exe not the patches.
Any suggestion ????

From my reading, these patches aren't like Windows Installer packages, where you can separate multiple patches with semi-colons on one command line: I believe you have to install them separately.

As I was alreay written .....here somthing problems beetween my Package SAP GUI 7.10 and wise.
because when I'm doble click my setupALL.exe,after the first clean caputer.....the UI part is not coming and my application is also not installed.
and in case of my patches......they are first extarct the some exe and files into the temp (%temp%) folder then they can execute but may be due to wise, its only extract them but can't install(Not showing any UI dilogbox).
In this case what I can do ????

From what little experimentation I've done, I believe SetupCapture chokes an applications with large numbers of files and/or registry entries. The last time I encountered it, the app wrote in excess of 24,000 registry entries.

What I have done in the past in these (thankfully, rare) cases is use a trial version of InstallShield Admin Studio (this is the product with the 'Repackager' tool) to create an MSI and then convert that to WSI. Once that's done, Wise has no issues with the WSI or MSI.

yes, i'm doing this thing........but i dont know....why wise can't capture that.....bcoz i handled about 20,000 registry through wise......and SAP only has 14,000 registry .
in future, if any body got any thing related to this plz inform me.

You're missing the point, i.e. it doesn't matter WHY Wise cannot capture it. Something in SAP is choking SetupCapture. Since no amount of hacking will MAKE it work - trust me, I tried everything from more RAM to stupid amounts of free disk space - use an alternative to get you to a working package. You can then open the resulting MSI in Wise, do a 'Save As...' to "convert" it to a WSI and thereafter continue working with the WSI in Wise. Easy.

"Older" versions of Wise Package Studio had some problem during capture which was interfered by the setup.
Try doing the initial "snapshot", close WPS, install and then launch setup capture again but skip to launch the re-initial snapshot.

Kim, I can tell you with complete confidence that it affects the latest flavour, too (7.0 SP1).
I have encountered 2 packages recently which choked SetupCapture, where I have had to resort to what amounts to software piracy (using a trial version of IS AdminStudio) to get an editable package. The work-around you suggest failed on both occasions. See my posts on the Altiris WPS forum.

In second through I think it's more related to the setup rather then version of Wise.

Hi Everyone,
I was tried to capture with new version of wise(wise 7).....and its able to capture that all exe and patches.I'm using a evaluation version of this, and somebody told me.....when i'll be install this application, it wi'll be show a msg like "msi created by a tryial version".but right now i cant say anything.
