Track license keys assigned to Snagit Software from TechSmith

My manager wants to setup the tacking of this software and some others with fields like PO, purchase date, the user assigned to the software, possibly the computer name as well. I looked at what Kace has posted and didn't quite follow it. Can someone give any pointers on this? Thanks

Although this video was made with version 10.x,  the information still applies. It may help with some of the details in regards to asset management.

For a single item of software it is easiest to use the "Approved for Device" setting in the Related Tab of the license.

With KACE we can associate the license with a machine, but not actually directly with the user, so there is a disconnect constantly.

If you know which users require or are authorised to use Snagit, identify the device that they use the software on and add it to the "Approved for Device" field in your Snagit license.

If you search the reports in reporting for "approv" you will find a couple fo reports that you can schedule to show unapproved software installations, any device found with Snagit that is not in the approved for device dropdown will appear in that report, once you have proved that, simply schedule a copy of the report to run on a regular basis, say every month, and tick the "Don't send empty reports" option in the schedule, what that means is you will only see a report if anyone other than the approved users have the software installed.

If you need any further help with any elements of KACE Asset management, don't watch a video ;o) get in touch and we can setup a call to talk you through it........#wearequest
