Tools for Clean Installation

Hi Everyone,
Im new in repackaging. Is there any tools/tip that can make it easier for me to be able to make sure that I have no deleted registry? Or to know if the created runtime files that need to be deleted during uninstall is connected to my application?

Thanks! Your help is appreciated! :)

Hi
You can try any third part tool like Installrite,Picture Taker etc to see if after uninstallation applications leaves any trace of the files/registry on the machine.

Hi,
You can take a snapshot of the source media installation for your reference to comapre.

You should be using a clean machine (preferably a VM/VPC/VirtualBox) built using your standard OS but with anti-virus and Windows Automatic Updates disabled, meaning that most of what is captured is relevant. Try and install pre-requisites (e.g. JRE, Visual C++ runtimes) before starting the capture.

Experience will hone your skills to decide whether or not to include other things.

Have you read and inwardly digested Phil Wilson's The Definitive Guide To Windows Installer? That should be your very first task before even installing your packaging tools.
