Tableau Reader 9.0 - How do I suppress the registration box?

04/28/2015 5830 views
Hi there,

I have been searching everywhere and have tried the ideas I found, but I still can't suppress the Registration box.  I looked at Tableau's website and they say that they want the user's information to send updates and training tips.  Users can "opt-out" if they want to.  I'm using SCCM to push this out to about 50 thick users (mostly laptop) and our Citrix team is creating a published app for our thin client users.  I can not push it out until this registration box doesn't come up.

Please share your thoughts and inputs asp.

Assuming you can manually select an 'opt-out' option somewhere in the GUI, then that setting must be stored somewhere.

Use your favourite lightweight snapshot tool (InControl/PictureTaker/InstallRite) to capture the opting out process and incorporate the setting into your package once you've confirmed the setting is valid via thorough testing.

I was able to suppress the registration dialog with version 10.2 by manually installing and registering, then capturing the registry data below and adding it to my installation package.

Notes: the hashtags represent hex values that may be different for your install and data for the  LicenseCache value is a multi-line string.
