System deleting serial number from assets?

We are trying to make Kace assets our primary inventory system. All was going well, until I noticed in the inventory, on some machines in the history the serial number keeps changing from the real serial number to a blank field. There are a few Dell machines and one HP doing this. This is also deleting the serial number from the releated asset's serial number field, which I thought could only be changed manually. But after I re-entered the serial number of a machine with this issue, 2 days later it lost it's serial number in Assets. Anyone have any idea why A) The agent is not reporting correct information 50% of the time each day and B) Why is this causing the serial number to go blank in the related asset?

K2000 version 5.5.

Thanks

  • Does the agent ever change the service tag from blank to a valid tag number? We occasionally have a situation where the agent is connected but is not checking in. For those instances, we have to fully uninstall the agent and reinstall. - grayematter 10 years ago
  • Yes, the information keeps flipping from a valid serial number to a blank one. This happens about daily. The agent appears to be working fine, shows as connected. Maybe some WMI corruption on the machine.

My biggest concern is I do not want this issue to affect my assets. It looks to be blowing away the serial number within the asset. The only way to recover it is by finding it in the asset history. - SDNBTP 10 years ago
