Switching from Kace1k to 2k problem

We were trying to setup the ability to switch from kace 1k to kace 2k via the organization drop down. We can get it to go from the 2k appliance to the 1k but not the other way around. When using the drop down we get a "Navigation to the webpage was canceled".

Has anyone had any luck on getting this to work?

This does work. Are you sure you have identical accounts/passwords on both boxes, whether they be local or ldap?

Well the accounts are through LDAP and are the same username and passwords on both sides (1k and 2k).
One difference i notice is that the 1k address is a HTTPS site and our 2k address is a HTTP non SSL site. Would this cause the problem in switching?

Hey young020,

Are you connecting to the box via IP or hostname?

I've seen issues switching back in forth between the boxes when DNS is messed up or missing.

If you test the connections on both machines do they throw any errors?

We have tried using both server name and ip address. It seems both has the same results.

When using the test button it comes back test successful.

I will try and look into seeing if the DNS is messed up or having problems.

I had this problem early on and had to make sure the linking was set up correctly. Worst case is go back through the linking setup and redo the settings.

I went back and deleted and renamed the linking to see if it would help. I still seem to get the same results. I can switch from k2000 to k1000 but not from k1000 to k2000.

I do see it trying to pass a token through internet explorer and it not filling out the entire address. This is an example of what I'm getting: http://xxxx/_Local(Token#) . After where i have xxxx it should have our domain which it does not. If i manually go to the address bar within the timeout limit and add our domain name it will get me over into the device. Kind of weird that is chopping this off during the switch over.

I would check and make sure you are using full domain names everywhere, it sound like that is the problem, make sure to check all 4 places:

K1000: "Settings" -> "Linking Dell KACE Appliances Settings"
K1000: "Settings" -> "Manage Linked Dell KACE Appliances"
K2000: "Settings & Manitance" -> "KACE Linking"
K2000: "Settings & Manitance" -> "Manage Linked Appliances"

More often than not you're missing a DNS entry, or there's a conflict in DNS for the IP address. If both appliances are testing properly when you test connection from the UI, then it's permissions for the user account; ensure both are using the same authentication method and the account you're logged in trying to switch with has admin permissions on both appliances.
