SOMEONE PLEASE HELP Dat file problem

I have an application Im trying to package called CadMover. Real basic application. My package installs fine but when it launches I get the following error "CadMover has detected an internal inconsistency. Please reinstall from original disks. What happens is when I install it the application drops a cminfo.dat file and a Cadmover.ini file in c:\windows if XP or C:\winnt if 2000. For some reason the XP install fails but the 2000 one works fine.

Ita laso depends, if I script on Xp then it does not work on 2000? Anyone ever script this app?

check to see if there is anything hardcoded like c:\winnt or c:\windows and use variables instead.

It sounds like the exe is hardcoded with a path.

Try installing on Windows XP and install the dat file to C:\Winnt and see how that goes.

And vice versa of course. You can also try replacing any mention of C:\Winnt and C:\Windows with %WIN% or %WINDIR% and see if that helps.
Rating comments in this legacy AppDeploy message board thread won't reorder them,
so that the conversation will remain readable.
