SMS and OS installation -

Hi, forgive my lack of knowledge, I have been looking through the documentation!

I'm looking at SMS 2003, and the SMS 2003 Operating System Deployment (OSD) Feature Pack with a view to setting it up and testing it for my college.

Am I correct in thinking there is no way of a machine with a new hard drive, plugged in the network, having an operating system installed by SMS?

From what I read SMS can only deploy an operating system to a machine with w2k or higher on it, or have I missed something?

Thanks

Sukh

The OSDFP can be used on new computers. You have to boot the computer with the boot CD created by the SMS 2003 OSDFP or RIS (uses image from boot CD).
Rating comments in this legacy AppDeploy message board thread won't reorder them,
so that the conversation will remain readable.
