Silent install using Wise installer
Hi,
I have a software that is password protected by the Wise installer itself.
What I would like to do is to do a silent install using /s but it prompted for a password.
I tried doing a /? to get the help menu, but it just starts the installer.
Is there a string where I can use to input the password with the /s string for a totally silent install?
Thanks,
Tony

Hi Tony,
yes, you are right, never heard about it. But no problem.
Why are you assuming, that setup is being built with Wise?
Go to the version tab of the setup.exe, maybe you can find out which installer tool was used to build this package.
Please start the app, let it stay on the first app and search the current users tempfolder for temporary files, created by this installer.
Regards, Nick

Because when I ran it, it has the big "WISE Solutions" logo in the background. :)

All I can find was "SelfDRIVE Version 2 Health & Safety Software" on the Description and the copyright to the company itself. The version is 0.0.0.0
Please start the app, let it stay on the first app and search the current users tempfolder for temporary files, created by this installer.
6 x *.tmp files created, that's all.
Thanks.

I actually have this exact same question with an app called SPC XL (it is also packaged in WISE - and yes, I'm certain! [:)] ). This particular setup also requires a password (which happens to be the serial number) in order to run it with a /s switch.
Hoping someone has an answer for both of us!

All,
I was working on this issue and fianlly went to Altiris' forum and found this artilce. http://forums.altiris.com/messageview.aspx?catid=20&threadid=35185&highlight_key=y&keyword1=password
Basically Wise stores the password in a release table rather than as a property therefore you cannot pass the apssword to the EXE.
Sorry.
