Silent install

Hi all

I have a science software and in trouble of install it through the .msi file. Now, I have the .exe file and really want to know how to install it silently. I remember to read it somewhere when you have a -s to install silently. And I also plan to install this software on 40 machines. Do we have to manually running that command line on every single machine. Please help me out.

Thank you very much.

So what happends when you try to install the application using the MSI?
Is it an InstallShield based MSI?

This application is a Logger Pro 3.6. I'm using Wise to create an msi package. When I deploy the software to the machine, there is nothing wrong with the application except it not detect the Logger Pro device which connected by USB port. Even though when I plug the device to the computer, it detects and installs driver. But when i run the application, the application say no device connected.

The software provider send me a file called Logger Pro 3_6 Silent Install.exe. I haven't used the silent install before that's why :).

thanks

Sounds like the USB driver wasn't installed correctly, not signed or corrupted in some how.
The following thread could be interesting for you allthough it's quite long but informative:

I would think something went wrong while I convert the application to the .msi package.

With the application manually install (.exe), It works fine.

With the application install through gpo (.msi), when I plug the device in, it says driver installed and ready to use.

This drive me nut :)

:)

Back to the topic. How do I do the silent install with the .exe file? Do I have to write scripting for it?

Another thing, well i suppost to open another thread but since you seems to be the only one to answer therefore i'm asking in this thread too :) . I plan to roll out office 2007 for our network but it seems to be that we are not able to do it through GPO. I read on this website (of course Appdeploy eheh) and they all rolling office 2007 out by System Management Server 2003. I email my software provider to give us the quote for SMS 2003. They replied and said that's old and tell us the new one is System Center Configuration Manager 2007 but in the quote she give us all the price for System Center Essentials 2007. My question: Is System Center Configuration Manager 2007 different to System Center Essentials 2007? And does System Center Essentials able to deploy the software out (especially Office 2007).

Thanks
enz

*** Yes, i just found out that System Center Essentials 2007 able to deploy Office 2007 and software out with ease (that's what microsoft say). :)
