SAP GUI 720 Install

Hi All,

We are planning a deployment of SAP GUI 720 (and Business Explorer) to over 20,000 users. There are currently over 20 different msi packaged versions of the GUI in the landscape for which uninstall scripts have been written. One issue we have come across is the time it is taking to install.

Can anyone tell me the difference between deploying SAP GUI 720 by -

1) Creating a package with NwSAPsetup and installing through the command -

<Path to Source>\SAP720\GUI Install Files\WIN32\setup\NwSapSetup.exe /Silent /Package="SAPGU720L08ENGC1"

2) Using NWSetupAdmin to create a Self-Installing Package (150mb package)

Install by simply running the executable SAP_GUI_Patch_8_20120106_1429.exe

Not sure if the time taken with option 1 is due to the source files first being copied, which I assume is not the case with the self deploying executable.

Many Thanks
