Software Deployment

SAP Gui is one of my personal favs. I personally have not packaged anything after 4.6 but it is likely that their installers still do suck.

These are some old practices I had with SAP GUI:

1) If it is an upgrade, write your own script to nuke all the COM registrations, registry and files from the previous version.

2) Never use the SAP installer except for repackaging purposes. [:D]

3) Make sure all your COM registrations are correct. Otherwise take up drinking as a profession.


But hopefully someone here has done 6.2 and can offer better insight than me.

what did you use?

installshield admin studio 5.5, i did not have any problems capturing the application , only problems i faced were with merging the services files and getting new ini file updates from the server.

I've been playing with adminstudio 6 but I got page after page of problems with reg entries it wouldn't accept when I tried to build the package.
