We've all seen the scenario, the OS has hung during shutdown, you can't issue another shutdown to the OS but the ip stack is still up.

Short of visiting the box with a finger, does anyone know of a method similar to WOL to reboot the box?

Hi,

Have you tried using xpepm.exe from WinPE?
Maybe you could remote execute xpepm.exe using psexec from sysinternals?

psexec \\computerName "<path>\xpepm.exe -restart"

Just a thought...
