Problems with Transform file

Hello
I am working on some transforms file for Microsoft Project and Visio Standard 2003. I have created the transforms using the Microsoft Office Custom Installation Wizard. I have a product key that will install the package in GUI mode. However, if add the product key to the transform file or add to the command line using the property PIDKEY=XXXXXXXXXXXX and it will not work. It gives and error message that it is an invalid product ID. I have called Microsoft and they have regenerated a new product key and still the same thing?

Most likely the transform isn't being applied. Install with verbose logging applied. The resulting log will tell you a) whether the transform's being applied and b) if the property is changed by the transform

I installed with a log file and still no change. The transform is being applied and I still get the error message "You have not entered a valid Product Key." But the key I have works in GUI mode. I have used two command lines to do the install. 1. Setup.exe TRANSFORMS="MyTransform.mst" /lv C:\temp\msproject.log /qb and 2. C:\windows\system32\msiexec.exe /i MyMSI.msi TRANSFORMS=MyTransform.mst /lv C:\temp\msproject.log /qb .

Thanks

Did you try using the whole path to the transform?

Could you post the lines from the verbose log while getting the "invalid product ID" message

MSI (s) (3C:1C) [14:30:40:635]: Command Line: TRANSFORMS=@MSProjectSTD2003.MST IIRC, the preceding '@' means that the MSI is using an embedded transform, doesn't it? I don't see any sign of asn external one being processed...

Hello sswils,

I'm not sure if you still have this issue or not. Now, I have seen this problem in the past with other software. Often times it was caused by my serial number not being used with the correct version of the product. So, just make sure that your serial number is in use with the correct version of the source files.

Regards,
Steph

It works if you install with the GUI so it is a geed number. It looks like the transform is not being used so now I know where to loo now. Thanks all.
