problem with office 2003 sp3

hi all,

i ran into a strange problem. i need to deploy office 2003 sp3 and my first tests show something weird.

i have deploy the msp on 5 workstations. 3 of them worked, meaning that if i open word, in help/about i see sp3. so those 3 are good.

the other 2 were different, and this is what is bugging me no end.

the status of the package distribution is successful.the patch installation is also successful. but if i go to help/about, i can sp2. ???

so i have tried manually installing the patch on those 2 workstations and they are now at sp3.

how come this be? if the status was successful, why then was sp3 not effectively installed? why do i need to manually install it?

i hope someone can give me some clues because i need to deploy it in 2 weeks but so far, i feel very insecure with this.

thanks!

Did you check for any logs generated during the install and check those for any clues?

the only thing that differs is that on all successful workstations, is that msaccess is not installed and on unsuccessful installations, msaccess is installed.

how come msaccess changes the behavior of the patch? how can i go around this problem?

i don't know what could be the next step.

i would be very happy if someone could give me some other clue.

thanks!

So what did a verbose log tell you during patch install?
You need to help us help you.

the verbose log reports everything as successful.

that's why i'm bugged, all is successful but word says sp2, not sp3 as i was expecting.

thanks!
