Getting following error while setting desktop wallpaper remotely through KBox replica server:

Running as: SYSTEM
Checking if registry 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop' value 'Wallpaper' is equal to 'C:\ProgramData\Dell\KACE\\kbots_cache\packages\kbots\190\Wallpaper.bmp' did not succeed: (0)

What is the problem causing this error?

You have an extra "\" after KACE. That should fix one problem.

  • The KACE does that by default; I believe it's a problem with the value they use for the KACE_DEPENDENCY_DIR where one of their variables has a trailing \ and the next to designate the target folder has a starting \. I've definitely seen it before. It doesn't seem to hurt anything.
  • I'm not sure how that would work when it is not a valid directory? I would think it would hurt since you cannot navigate to that path.
  • I did too, but as I said, it happens in most scripts in the KACE. Certainly try to change it and see if it fixes the problem.

Do you want to set desktop wallpaper for logged on user? If yes why is the command running in SYSTEM context?
