Post install of Office 2010 k2000

I am new and struggling with my office deploy. We do not have k1000 so I am adding software in the post deployment.  I have done the office customization tool and saved my "silentinstall.msp" in the updates folder.  I browse to my offsite files storage for the setup.exe.  I run the command setup.exe /adminfile silentinstall. it pops up the command line help window when testing on the local machine. which of course fails in the deployment. I have been looking on here and it looks real easy to do but.... Thanks for helping in advance

  • if the silentinstall.msp file is located in your updates folder, you may need to have the command run setup.exe /adminfile updates\silentinstall.msp - DaveMT 6 years ago
  • It must have to do with my syntax and the network install. by putting the admin file in the updates folder you can just run the command setup.exe and it runs using that file. if I copy my office folder to the desktop and run it, it runs fine. but trying to run it from my network fails. example: c:\steve\desktop\win2010\setup.exe, works fine.
but \\files\software\win2010\setup.exe files is the name of the server, just brings up the window showing the commands I can use. I would really like to keep the folder on the software share if I can - bockster1 6 years ago
  • Make sure you are mapping a letter to that share drive first.
Run your script from that network share.
Then use another bat file script to remove the mapped letter - Channeler 6 years ago
  • just tried that. still error that can not find file. All my other apps are in the same share and they work ok. Microsoft lync, java, flash, internal applications. I'll keep trying. Just found out my Adobe reader is doing the same thing. I'm sure it is something stupid I am missing. I'll keep trying. thanks for responding - bockster1 6 years ago
