pcAnywhere 11.5 through GPO

I hadn't been able to find a solution anywhere for getting version 11.5 to deploy through Active Directory so now that I figured it out I wanted to post the solution.

The Symantec Help desk was less than helpful stating that I needed to install an SMS server to install this product. This allows you to call the executable created with the MSI by the packager.

I created the package using the Symantec packager adding in the desired connections and settings. Before building the package I specified the Default Installation mode to silent. (If this is not set you may see an error message stating that the package cannot run from a UNC path.)

Using a WISE product I edited the MSI scripting. In custom actions there is an installation mode section for Administrative Installation and Advertisement Installation. By commenting out the sections Cancel Installation (DisallowAdverstisedInstall) and Cancel Installation(DisallowAdminInstalls) I was able to get group policy to accept the package.

I hope this helps somebody else out and saves them some time hunting for an answer.
