Patch deployment using Unicenter
Hi All,
I know this veers slightly off topic but was hoping I might get a quick answer. Just a simple question, I hope! I have created a patch for an application which replaces a few files and also adds some new ones. The patch is in .MSP format. The deployment team use Unicenter to deploy and tell me that they cannot deploy a .MSP file using Unicenter. I find this hard to believe, Unicenter can deploy .MSI and .MST and cannot deploy .MSP. Can anyone confirm or deny for me that Unicenter can deploy .MSP files?
Cheers,
Rob

Right click All Software under Software Library & select New - Software. Give it a name etc, click OK. Then when your software shows up under the software library, you add the files into the source, and whatever file needs to run the install under Procedure. I'm sure the instructions are available on ca.com.

Hi Angelia and Akhlaque,
Thanks for your reply's. I have since found that you can deploy an MSP however we are still researching putting multiple patches down for an application.
Registering a patch:
In the Software Deliverry GUI drill down to your package and expand procedures list
Right click and select"New added procedure with new files
In General pane :
Enter a name for the procedure and change task to configure
In the added files paneSet type to MSI file
Type the path to the MSP(dont use browse option)
In the "General" sub pane change the MSI "Method" depending on whether you are going to use this procedure to patch existing installs or if it is going to be used to patch the Admin install point.
Drag the procedure to the computer or group you wish to deploy to and hey presto!
