Patch deployment. Clients stuck at "Downloading"

Hello everybody,

since 3h i am waiting for my clients to continue installing patches. They are stuck at "Downloading".

The patches itself were successfully downloaded last night. The patches are manually deployed with a "detect and deploy" schedule. They are correctly identified but, as mentioned, downloading since hours.

Any hint is appreciated! Unfortunately the screenshots are in german, sorry!

PS: We just yesterday updated to Appliance version 10.1.99 and Agent 10.1.43 - suspicious?

During a Detect / Deploy patch schedule, the signature files are used to to the detect if a patch is applicable.

If the patch is applicable,  the patch will be request from the KACE Server or replication share if one is used.

If the actual patch has not been download to  the KACE Server or Replication share. The patch schedule will display "Downloading" and pause to wait until the patch is made available on the next download schedule.

10.0 hat eine komplett neue Patching engine. Das bedeutet, dass alle notwendigen Sachen und die Patches als Solche auch erst einmal heruntergeladen werden müssen.
Außerdem versucht die Engine die alten Dateien in die neuen Dateien zu überführen, wo dies möglich ist. Deshalb ist es am Anfang etwas langwieriger als gewohnt.
Wenn alle Dateien korrekt heruntergeladen sind, ist sie schneller als die Alte.
Sollte sich das mehrfach wiederholen, und mehrere Durchläufe brauchen, hilft der Support gern weiter.

With 10.0 there is a new patching engine in use. All nessesary files need to be downloaded. The new engine tries to use the old files where possible but this needs time. As soon all files are new the engine is much faster.
If you still run into these issues after some patch runs, please open a SR with KACE Support.

I had that issue again right now. Tried to manually patch a device - it's stuck at "Downloading". 


So i checked the clients patch status. The patches were not downloaded! Although the applicance patch download schedule was running successfully at 4 am!


I manually re-ran the patch download schedule and voila client is updating! Why are the patches not fully downloaded at night?

      • There are archive kpatchdownload_log files. You would need to download the complete server logs to look at past history. - KevinG 1 year ago
