Office 2007 Templates

Hi
I pushed out office 2007 a few months ago. Last week one staff came up and told me that our organisation template would have font Times News Roman and size 11 etc. When I push it out, I think I leave it as the Microsoft default. I google it how to fix the problem but all come up by fixing every single machine as a time. Is there anyway I can create an .msp and push it out? I did go through the OCT set up and couldn't find where to set the templates or font or size of Words and Outlook.

All help are very appreciate. Thank you.

Word's default font and type size is controlled by the 'Normal' style in the default template NORMAL.DOT. You need to update and distribute that. The fun comes when your users have their own customisations in their local copy of that template (instead of using their own) and your revised one comes along and walks all over it. You need to work out how to cater for that. It's possible to do this via script or VBA using Word's automation. And, before you ask, no, I don't have any example code. Sorry.

As for Outlook, I haven't yet played with 2007 in anger but, IIRC, you need to be looking at setting the required default on a PC then export the keys
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Common\MailSettings\ReplyFontSimple
and
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Common\MailSettings\ComposeFontSimple

Hi VBScab

Yes, It's a Normal.dotm file locate under every user profile under local drive. The same thing goes for outlook with the file name is NormalEmail.dotm (if i'm not wrong). Both file stay in the same location. I know we can copy our new Normal.dotm or NormalEmail.dotm to that location but if the user goes to another machine, then .... :).

I try to delete the Normal.dotm file and then open Words from Start menu. It will create a new Normal.dotm file. This is where my problem coming from. I don't have much understanding where or how Words gets/creates that new Normal.dotm from. I did go through the Program Files/Microsoft Office but can't find anything related to it. It would be good if we can fix it from there.

Thank you very much VBScab.

...then...what? Your features should be set up properly so that they self-repair. The installer engine should 'see' that the file is missing when the feature is 'selected' (if you catch my drift) and repair that feature.
